Join us for an online training session - if you have never been to a Reading Leader Training Day before, this is where to start!
We will dive into:
What makes an ELS School
The theory and pedagogy behind ELS
What your role is as the Reading Leaders
How to build a team of expert reading teachers
Preparing your children for end of EYFS
Getting children ready for the PSC
Planning for a strong start each term
How to use the ELS Progression to suit your learners' needs
This session will support the use of ELS Progress and the new ELS Progress Apply Books to close phonic knowledge gaps and promote a love of reading.
ELS Progress targets three key areas:
Code Knowledge Gaps
Developing Reading Fluency
Vocabulary and Language Knowledge
This session focuses on developing children’s fluent reading and a move away from actively decoding and blending.
We look at how to assign texts to support fluency and using ELS Fluency within the classroom.
This session aligns with the latest research into developing reading fluency.
This session will run twice. By booking your Hub onto the training you can share the link to the training session with all your ELS schools and Literacy Specialists supporting ELS schools.
