Literacy Specialists are welcome to get in touch any time for support for their Partner Schools.

Where a school requires further tailored support, we may direct them to book training in-person or virtually.

English Hub support from Essential Letters and Sounds

    Data Support

    Targeted support and data analysis for all your ELS Schools. We examine the school’s journey with ELS alongside their Literacy Specialist and provide next steps, recommendation and targeted support including next steps following a data analysis.

    The Hub is provided with a report that links to the Challenge Checklist.

    These can be in-person or virtual.

    Cost:

    1 hour slot (usually 2-3 schools can be covered in this time) £150 + Expenses + VAT

    Full Day: £650 + expenses + VAT

    Data Support or PSC Support sessions

    These support calls provide an opportunity to analyse data. In the term preceding the PSC give purposeful next steps to ensure maximum success at the Phonics Screening Check.

    These sessions provide targeted next steps and teaching tips to ensure sustained and improvement progress for children within each cohort.

    For PSC Support calls we encourage the school’s Reading Leader or SLT to join to ensure that specific needs can be discussed and all advice is suitable for the cohort and school.

    Cost: According to the number of schools and number of year groups to be discussed. We recommend 20-30 minutes per school.

    £150 per hour + expenses + VAT

    Reading Leader Training Days

    These can be booked via our ‘Events’ page.

    We encourage Literacy Specialists to attend.

    Hubs can fund places on these days for schools. These can be booked and paid for directly by the Hub.

    Cost: £150 + VAT

    New to ELS or new to role - 24th September (virtual) 09:00 - 15:00

  • Blending Support

    Teaching Blending

    These sessions are designed for the schools you are supporting.

    How to teach blending from the beginning.

    We’ll discuss:

    How can we support children to get blending?

    What practise should we use outside of the lesson?

    What needs to be in place before children can blend?

    How can data support us to teach blending?

    This session will run twice.

    By booking your Hub onto the training you can share the link to the training session with all your ELS schools and Literacy Specialists supporting ELS schools.

    Developing Fluency

    These sessions are designed for the schools you are supporting.

    This session focuses on developing children’s fluent reading and a move away from actively decoding and blending.

    We look at how to assign texts to support fluency and using ELS Fluency within the classroom.

    This session aligns with the latest research into developing reading fluency.

    This session will run twice. By booking your Hub onto the training you can share the link to the training session with all your ELS schools and Literacy Specialists supporting ELS schools.

    Supporting Struggling Readers in KS2 and KS3

    These sessions are designed for the schools you are supporting.

    This session will support the use of ELS Progress and the new ELS Progress Apply Books to close phonic knowledge gaps and promote a love of reading.

    ELS Progress targets three key areas:

    • Code Knowledge Gaps

    • Developing Reading Fluency

    • Vocabulary and Language Knowledge

    This session will run twice. By booking your Hub onto the training you can share the link to the training session with all your ELS schools and Literacy Specialists supporting ELS schools.

    Making Phonics Count: Using Data to Guide Teaching

    These sessions are designed for the schools you are supporting.

    How to use assessment within the lesson and half termly data to support your children.

    Make the strongest start in Reception and ensure that children in Year One and confident readers who can apply all their phonic knowledge.
